French director and stage designer Philippe Quesne premières in Spain his La nuit des taupes (The Night of the Moles), which was presented for the first time at Brussel’s Kunstenfestivaldesarts in 2016. A surprising work in which while they are digging their burrows, seven giant moles find themselves on the stage of a theatre. Seven moles living together, a utopia for a supposedly solitary animal. The audience can see these subterranean creatures living, eating, sleeping, working, having fun, forming a rock band... La Nuit des Taupes, immerses the public in a parallel world in which there are neither words nor humans, in an electric universe that vibrates with the underground music that is heard in garages and basements. A hyper-sensory immersion in the abysses of fiction. Quesne seeks the marvellous, the small and the extreme experiences of our daily life, together with the relationship between humanity and nature.
[As well as presenting this piece, Philippe Quesne and his moles will also be taking part in the Veranos de la Villa Festival in When the River Sounds... (Cuando el río suena…) and in Animal Festivity (Verbena animal).]
