SAFARI ASFÁLTICO (ASPHALT SAFARI)
Last year, during the Veranos de la Villa Festival, Asturian writer Sergio C. Fanjul made twenty-one walking tours of the different districts of the capital, offering a story at the end of each one. His gaze was focused primarily on the architectural, the urbanistic, the social and the human. But although we tend to think that cities are the realm of human beings and their works, nature, in its own incessant and unstoppable way, slips through every crack it encounters, sometimes inadvertently. We also live side by side with trees, birds, spontaneous flowers, pets, insects… In the Casa de Campo Park sheep are grazing once again, and deer run wild on the El Pardo mountain. This year, Sergio C. Fanjul (a graduate in Astrophysics, a poet, radio commentator, columnist and journalist) will turn himself into a kind of urban Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente to bring us closer to the living beings who share with us the green and the not-so-green parts of the city. These texts will give rise to a small publication that will be distributed during the Festival.
