Parade / Music / Fancy Dress Party

An evening dedicated to fantasy, a night to celebrate the fantastic otherness of the animal world, our fellow inhabitants on this planet, or with those beings that emerge from paintings, or to don fancy dress and to dance alongside those other strange and unimaginable creatures which we can all become. Four very different proposals that offer a common thread so we can let ourselves go, led by the power of our imagination and music in the middle of a park.

From France comes La Parade Moderne with its parade of living sculptures inspired by large paintings of the 20th century, as if it were a travelling museum. Hidrogenesse, or if you prefer, Carlos and Genís, a duo from Barcelona who play electronic art rock, will revisit their acclaimed album Animalitos for the occasion. Hardcore rock music from Maulwürfe, the name of the band of giant moles created by Philippe Quesne, based on the universe of his work La nuit des taupes. And, finally, a concert by the always disconcerting Meneo, a Guatemalan artist now based in Madrid who has coined the term “electropical” to define his music. You’ll be able to hear all sorts of strange versions—there’s no way you’ll be able to stop dancing—such as Los Chichos in dembow, Las Grecas in drum’n bass, Queen in cumbia, Cranberries in rumba, Raphael in house, El Columpio Asesino in techno, Chimo Bayo in funk, Alejandro Sanz in salsa, Oasis in Sevillanas... Alba Rihe will be the mistress of ceremonies and the collective SUGA will take part as a one-of-a-kind “dance troupe”.

We’re extending an invitation to anyone and everyone, young and old alike, who’d like to help create a fantastic world, together, just for a moment. (And if you come in fancy dress, all the better!).

* The parade will start off from the main entrance of the Emperatriz María de Austria Park, beside the Plaza Elíptica metro station.
