MAD + MAD
An urban strategy for location and use of public spaces
Like in the past two editions, once again Veranos de la Villa will be working with a group of architects from Madrid (Elii – Architecture Studio) to locate spaces, imagine uses for them and assess their suitability for scheduled activities, taking into account aesthetic, technical, urban planning and sociological factors. The aim is to make Veranos de la Villa a decentralised cultural programme that’s distributed across the entire city, bringing its activities to the residents of all of Madrid’s districts while showcasing its diverse architectural, urban planning and landscape heritage. To this end, for the past two years we have been –and still are– mapping the city in detail, with the aim of locating infrastructure, facilities, sites, spots and contexts that can host activities while also enabling a reactivation of the use and enjoyment of public spaces.
